Getting started - partnership, coproduction and defining the problem
The Safer Durham Partnership have recently joined the MEAM network to develop a Community Action Team in a defined geographical area within County Durham, to bring together a range of service providers and deliver a joined up service offer for the local community which will provide direct support, navigation and better access to services as well as a combined multi agency response to tackling emerging problems in the area.
Over the next few months the partnership will come together to develop an action plan for the next 12 months in the hope the approach will improve community engagement, build social capital, increase public confidence and restore social norms so that people can lead long and independent lives.
Designing your intervention
An operational group will be established from strategic managers within the key partner agencies to look at mapping the system locally and identifying a cohort, as well as providing overall strategic direction as this work develops. It is envisaged that over the next few months the community action team will be developed to work alongside the community to identify issues and gaps in the system. An Operational Team Leader will be jointly appointed to direct and manage the Community Action Team on a day to day basis.
