Overview
This training helps you to better understand trauma and adversity and how we, as part of a system, can better respond, ensure genuine inclusion for people living with trauma and avoid re-traumatising people when in contact with services.
It applies a systemic lens to trauma-informed approaches and leads learners through an exploration of psychological trauma, how it impacts people and relates to experiences of multiple disadvantage, and why trauma-informed approaches need a system-wide response.
Using systems thinking tools and good practice examples, we’ll also look at what it means to be a trauma informed system and how local areas can get started developing these approaches in a systemic way.
Who is this training for?
This course is designed for local stakeholders working to better coordinate services and systems for and with people facing multiple disadvantage.
We encourage a broad range of stakeholders from local areas to join, including people with lived experience of multiple disadvantage, commissioners, elected members, community groups, managers and practitioners from statutory, commissioned and non-commissioned services.
If you’re not sure if this training is right for you, contact the team on training@meam.org.uk.
