This afternoon, on the steps of Downing Street, the new Prime Minister Andy Burnham has committed “To end rough sleeping in our country.”
Oliver Hilbery, Chief Executive of MEAM, said:
“This is a very welcome commitment, which will require every local area in the country to improve services and systems for people facing multiple disadvantage.
“The new Prime Minister arrives in Downing Street with vast experience of tackling multiple disadvantage following the work of the Changing Futures programme in Greater Manchester – something he wrote about for MEAM in his 2024 essay “Names, not Numbers”
“There is much learning to build on from MEAM Approach and Changing Futures areas across the country, and we look forward to working with the new PM and his team to make his commitment a reality.”
